VProud is an online video social network that launched on September 12, 2014. It was founded by Karen Cahn, a former Google, YouTube, and Aol executive. The site is often described by the press as a “troll-proof” space for discussion on numerous topics, such as news, health, feminism, LGBT concerns, relationships, and parenting. [1] However, VProud has never adopted that phrase.

VProud users can register onto the site under a public profile that is attached to their Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ account. Users can also register under a private profile that only requires an email address. The site features thousands of original and curated video content. Once they’re on the site, users can upload a video and ask a “conversation starting” question to promote discussion within the VProud community.
