Operation metastasis (Caso Metástasis) is an operation against corruption, organised crime and drug trafficking in Ecuador.

75 raids[1] were conducted on 14 December across 24 provinces leading to the arrest of 29 people including the president of the Judiciary Council Wilman Terán[2] and Pablo Ramírez, former director of the prison service, judges, prosecutors, police, prison staff.[3] [4] [5]This operation originates from the investigation into the assassination of drug baron Leandro Norero during the 2022 Ecuador prison riots‎.[4][6]

During the operation, the twitter accout of the Judiciary Council showed support to its head but not all members of the Council were aligned with this view, implying the tweet came from Wilman Terán andnot the Judiciary Council. [7]

On 20 December the head of the judiciary resigns from his position.[8]
