'CHINAMIBIA ARTS EDUCATION FOR DEVELOPMENT'Bold text
ChiNamibia Arts education for Development organization founded in Namibia on the 10th January 2013, by Graduates from the College of the arts who studied diploma (African Performing Arts students. It was founded by Ms Kapenangutjiua Vetira and Mr Josephat Tjiho who would like to share their acquired skills and knowledge in Arts and Culture by educating children and young Namibians. CHINAMIBIA develops, educates and create awareness among the children through arts and culture on social issue and preparation for themed events, to enrich the Namibian Arts industry and broaden Arts education nationally. “CHI-NAMIBIA” stands for children of Namibia.
We are currently registered with Ministry of Youth, sports and culture. We are affiliated to CHAREWO.
How did ChiNamibia Start?
CHINAMIBIA was inspired and derived from CHIPAWO Zimbabwe which was established in 1989. CHIPAWO is an arts education for development and empowerment trust that works with children and young people in child development. CHIPAWO is an organization that has been working with children and young people for over twenty years and been involved in many international festivals and exchanges has learn from its own experience what children and young people can perform in this regards. Through its international arm, CHIPAWO World, CHIPAWO is committed to sharing its experience and methodology with children and young people in other countries. As a result, the following have been founded CHIEDZA (Zambia), CHISA (South Africa) and CHIPABO (Botswana). CHINAMIBIA is being founded as a sister organization, working closely with the other like-minded organizations in the region and in the world .
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES Objectives to: Ensure knowledge of diverse culture in Namibia Appreciate Arts and culture and education in our society Respect children Rights Involve children and youth in creative learning process regardless of their gender, race, social status, ability and disability. Giving a platform to children to voice and air their opinions through the means of Arts and culture education. To be the foundation of self discovery through exchange programs that showcase talent. Provide initiative with a powerful capacity to bring change through the arts, media, and other child and youth friendly methodologies. Provide initiative to inform and effect behaviours and mindset change on issues such as health (HIV/AIDS), democracy, gender, abuse, rape, teenage pregnancies, climate change, sports, arts and as well as children rights.
HOW THIS WILL WORK Achievements To install creative development that will cultivate the children and youth into well groomed adults who will become active members of our society. Be part of the Organization Establish a network of participatory arena that will give exposure for the children and for our country at large, as we present our country in cultural events in different parts of the world Reaching out to all pre-primary, primary and secondary learners and orphans as well as vulnerable children and educate them about the arts and culture weekly and get them involved in events. Generate role models that will empower the youth and self driven to become self sufficient. To decentralise and branch out to other regions in Namibia and share the arts education with children and youth from other regions, towns and rural areas. To create an environment where young people can express themselves without fear of being judged or discriminated against their creativity and artistic abilities. Drama, Poetry, Music, Acting, Film, Fashion Design, Modelling, Deaf Theatre, Culture Instruments, Visual arts, Comedians CREATE JOBS FOR THE YOUTH And many more, for age groups 5-23 years .

History of Events
ChiNamibia Arts Education for Development
ChiNamibia was officially launched by the Ministry of Youth, National Service Sport and Culture, the Directorate of Arts on 15th March 2013. Chi - Namibia means children of Namibia. ChiNamibia was inspired by Chipawo Zimbabwe which is an Arts Education for Development and Empowerment Trust for children, It has been working with children for over 20 years and they are educating children and the youth about arts and culture. ChiNamibia held a Dance and Drumming a workshop which was choreography by a local choreographer Stanley Mareka and a choreographer from CHIPAWO Zimbabwe Mr Farai. This workshop was sponsored by ChiNamibia, Coca-Cola, CHIPAWO Zimbabwe, National Arts Council and Equipped Dance Academic.
After that ChiNamibia presented a Children Play and Talent show, Directed and Choreographed by Ms Kapena Vetira at Van Rhyn Primary School and it was performed by the learners of Van Rhyn Primary School ,this event was Sponsored by CHINAMIBIA and Van Rhyn Primary school with use of the hall for Rehearsal and Performance. This event took place on the 8th of August 2013. Lastly ChiNamibia hosted Miss ChiNamibia 2013 on 08th November 2013 at Van Rhyn Primary School Hall as a fundraising event for the Exchange programme in Zimbabwe taking place from the 3rd December to the 17th 2013 with the children of Van Rhyn Primary School. They are going to perform at CHIPAWO CHRISTMAS SHOW, TITLED, “CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS THE AFRICAN WAY” this event was sponsored by ChiNamibia, National Arts Council of Namibia, Van Rhyn Primary School, Chipawo Zimbabwe, National Art Council of Zimbabwe.

MISS CHINAMIBIA 2013
NAMIBIA- ZIMBABWE EXCHANGE PROGRAM 3RD DECEMBER TO 18TH DECEMBER 2013.
ChiNamibia Arts Education for Development was invited to perform in Harare Zimbabwe at Chipawo Christmass show that took place o the 14th December 2013 at Girls High school in Harare. This event was sponsored by National Arts Council of Namibia and Van Rhyn Primary school. The show consisted of 350 children from Harare and 30 children from Namibia. Our children rehearsed and performed with the Zimbabwean children and learned their cultural dance and we also had an opportunity to perform our own cultural dances at the show. We also visited the Namibian Embbasy in Zimbabewe and they welcomed us and gave snacks to the children and we met the Ambassoder. We are looking forward to have more events such as this and in all parts of the world.
This event was a great success, we went with children from the Upper Primary of Van Rhyn Primary school. 22 girls and 8 boys.
