2022 Delhi Crackers Allowance

[edit]

The Delhi Government issued a law saying that all forms of crackers & fireworks should be banned from September 28th,2022 -January 1st,2023

On Monday, The Supreme Court, on being asked so, refused to lift the ban of fireworks. "We will not lift the ban on firecrackers in the National Capital Region. Our order is very clear," the Supreme Court said.[1]

It is clear from the stand of the Supreme Court that the ban on firecrackers will continue in Delhi for Diwali, Chhath Puja, Guru Nanak Jayanti and New Year.[1]

Reasons:

[edit]

There may be several reasons for the ban of fireworks. “The major reason is the bursting of firecrackers. Emissions from firecrackers are extremely dangerous, especially for children, women and elderly people. Therefore, the Delhi government has imposed a complete ban on the production, sale and use of all types of firecrackers this year, too. The ban even covers their online delivery,”[2]

The ban has been extended to January 1st to control air pollution in winter on Christmas.

Reactions:

[edit]

There has been much protesting of the people. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari tried to make a plea to let the Supreme court lift the ban. But due to the concern for environmental

pollution, The Supreme Court refused.
