Chris Skinner

Christopher Skinner is an entrepreneur, raconteur, businessman, writer, musician and adventurer who has lived in Darwin in Australia's Northern Territory for the last 3 decades, on and off since 1969. He has two children, both grown up. He is active in Politics and issues surrounding the homeless, indigenous people and the housing affordability crisis. He is a General Nurse and has been a designated Mental Health Practitioner. He is influenced by Buddhism and the writing of Pramahansa Yogananda (Autobiography of a Yogi). Interests include current affairs, including the immorality of war which leaves a bigger carbon footprint than any other human activity, and in ecology of Giai or the Earth, as subscribed to Lovelock's beliefs. Other interests include Philanthropy.

Early Life: Born in Nottingham, UK, in June 1954 to an Orthopaedic Surgeon and a General Nurse (Lieutenant-Colonel Edward Welby Offord Skinner and Ivy Joan Skinner, nee Mackenzie), Christopher first lived in Marlow, Buckinghamshire with his parents, and then accompanied them to Egypt, where his Father was attached to the Royal Army medical Corps at Port Said, and then Ismalia. Contracting Typhoid, Christopher was sent to St. Bartholemew's Hospital, London UK, to recuperate and then lived with his Grandmother until 1963, when he came into the temporary care of the Lee family, and attended schools in Aylesbury (Queen's Park), Winsley, near Bradford on Avon (Sutcliffe) and then the Royal Latin School in Buckingham, Bucks (now Northants), leaving for Australia in 1967 at the age of 13, wher he rejoined his father and his step-brother, Marcus.
