Many of the recent accidents within Central Park involved cyclists. The death of Jill Tarlov after being hit by a cyclist on West 63rd called attention to the issue of accidents related to cyclists within the park.[1]An series of accidents on August 26th, 2019 once again drew attention to the issue. Approximately 300 people a year have been injured in cycling related accidents since the city started tracking the issue in 2011.[2]Legislation called for more strict law enforcement on cyclists within the park. The NYPD has stepped up the level of law enforcement on cyclists, in attempt to cut down on the number of accident.[3]
