COLONEL MARKSMAN

[edit]

Introduction

[edit]

Colonel Marksman is a fictious character created by ****** *. ****** (name censored). The figure "Colonel Marksman" has shown up in several stories, fluff, fanfictions, and has been basically overused.

History of Name

[edit]

Colonel Marksman's origins came from a wide group of inspired sniper-like characters and small band leaders that started as the creator's name. The first actual "pen name" was inspired by "Lt. Col." in a fluff of Imperial Guard part of Warhammer 40,000. The first recorded internet use was in a mass series of ElfWood fanarts of Warhammer40k. Sadly, most of these comments were eventually deleted as unfavored anyomnous ones. However, thus was the birth of the name.

Evolution continued with a brief but extensive use of Lt. Colonel Marksman. The rank and use was frequent in 40k and Starcraft fanfic fluff. However, Lt. Col. Marksman proved to be too long and the lack of a period became greivous.

When the creator and author learned that the rank of "Colonel" was lower than once thought, the name was shorted to Col. Marksman. Eventually, the extension to the full name (due to lack of some people not knowning what "Col" was) "Colonel Marksman" came to play. For Halo and e-mail purposes, "ColMarksman" was an alternate shortened version.

However, several players on Halo did not understand that "Col" was short for "Colonel" and it became bothersome. Other names were constantly used but where ever possible, the full title was preferred.

Consistancy

[edit]

Colonel Marksman, however, liked consistancy, learning that many other Internet surfers and gamers use as many as 10 different names. Colonel Marksman is the best preferred user name. When spacing is not allowed, the name is "ColonelMarksman". When that is too long, "ColMarksman" is put to use. If spacing and periods are allowed, but with limited length, "Col. Marksman" is better. Colonel Marksman is as yet to come across a place where "ColMarksman" was too short long. Friends often refer to the author s "Colonel", and others "Marksman" as a shortened nickname.
