User:Constant314/Plane wave visual depiction

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a work in progress.

This page is for preparing edits to be added to the plane wave article.

The images in this section are artistic depictions of the relationships between fields in a plane wave. Directions transverse to the direction of propagation are compressed to depict filed geometry many wavelengths away from the central portion of the propagating wavefront.

In an ideal plane wave, the wavefronts are parallel to infinity and the flux lines never close (or could be considered closed at infinity). In a practice plane wave, the lines of flux close.
