- Why do you want to be a Wikipedia Ambassador?
- I started this account back in August 2009. My edits, of course, were not the best. I had no idea what reliable sources were and what the use of verifiability was. It wasn't until (literally) the very end of 2009 until I started understanding Wikipedia. Thanks' to User:Rezter comment, I have changed my editing. I think that certain comments and examples will get new users to be better user…
- In three sentences or less, summarize your involvement with Wikimedia projects.
- I have created 24 articles (one DYK), brought 28 articles to a much higher status (15 GAs (three GANs), one FAC, one FLC (one FFLC), and two FTs). I have reviewed 22 GANs, and peer reviewed 6 articles. I currently have well over 7,000 edits.
- How have you been involved with welcoming and helping new users on Wikipedia?
- I normally don't do much with new users, occasionally welcome them, notify them that their edits were constructive/unconstructive, but normally just revert their edits. For the record, I always assume good faith and all that with new users.
- What do you think are the most important values to impart to newcomers?
- Honestly, I remember when I started out, other users and admins would post stuff on my talk page saying what I was doing was wrong and why it was wrong. But I wouldn't listen. I didn't even read the comments, mainly because they were in template form. I think that giving the users comments which aren't prepared for you and actually look like real messages will encourage the new users to read them, and perhaps change their ways.
- What do you see as the most important ways we could welcome newcomers or help new users become active contributors?
- I think my last answer ought to explain this.
- Have you had major conflicts with other editors? Blocks or bans? Involvement in arbitration? Feel free to offer context, if necessary.
- I have not had any major conflicts with other editors, nor had any blocks or bans. I recall helping settle a few disputes, but can't think of when…
- How often do you edit Wikipedia and check in on ongoing discussions? Will you be available regularly for at least two hours per week, in your role as a mentor?
- I usually edit Wikipedia daily but sometimes take a couple days off. I will most likely be available regularly for at least two hours per week, except perhaps towards the end of the year, when their are finals, but I guess I could check in during that time.
- What else should we know about you that is relevant to being a Wikipedia Ambassador?
- I think that I would definitely be a great Wikipedia Ambassador. I always keep my cool, always friendly, always assume good faith, and am always welcome. I've been on here for a year ad a half, so can still relate to new users.
