SmackDown, Intercontinental Champion (2020-2022)

Upon signing a WWE contract, he would make his debut on October 16, 2020, defeating Drew Gulak on SmackDown, establishing himself as a face. On November 22 at Survivor Series, he would represent SmackDown against Team Raw, ultimately being defeated in a clean sweep.

He would then enter the Royal Rumble on January 31, 2021, being the 13th entrant. He would last about 15 minutes before being eliminated by the winner Edge. On February 21, he would take part in an Elimination Chamber Match to determine the #1 Contender for the Universal Championship, ultimately being unsuccessful as the match would be won by Daniel Bryan. Following WrestleMania 37, he would begin pursuing the Intercontinental Championship held by Apollo Crews, being unsuccessful at Hell in a Cell on June 20. On the October 1st episode of SmackDown, he would brutally assault the new champion Shinsuke Nakamura and his tag team partner Rick Boogs, turning heel in the process. On the November 12th episode of SmackDown, he would defeat the champion to capture the title for the first time. On November 21 at Survivor Series, he would be defeated by Raw's United States Champion Damian Priest. At the Day 1 event on January 1, 2022, he would defeat Shinsuke Nakamura to retain the title, ending their feud. He would then enter the Royal Rumble on January 29, being the 2nd entrant. He would last about 25 minutes before being eliminated by Kevin Owens. On February 19 at Elimination Chamber, he would lose the Intercontinental Championship to Ricochet, ending his reign at 100 days. On April 2 during WrestleMania 38 Saturday, he would be unsuccessful in capturing the title again after being defeated by Ricochet once more, ending their feud.
