[1] She grew up performing on stages around the Memphis, TN. and North MS. area. Her performances received positive reviews among theater critics all across the Memphis community. In 2008, she won her first Best Leading Actress award for her portrayal of Annie Sullivan in 'The Miracle Worker' at Desoto Family Theater. In an interview during the production she stated, "I've always wanted a role where I could really push myself and stretch my acting abilities," and she continued to do just that. One year later, she starred in South Pacific as Nellie Forbush, and would later win Best Leading Actress in a Musical. One review stated "Katelyn Nichols is strong and appealing as Nellie Forbush, the girl next door whose heart is in an uproar. Katelyn has been active in leadership organizations in school and in the community throughout middle school, high school, and college.
