The results of this study will be apparently significant to the cadets; they may know the reason why almost all of those cadets that are known to be in the honor ranks are alumni of the said school. And this might inspire them to study harder and pursue their goals.

CHAPTER II: Review of Related Literature The Sisters of Mary School is a religious congregation for women and founded by the late Msgr. Aloysius Schwartz. Upon the invitation of the late Cardinal Jaime L. Sin, D.D. then Archbishop of Manila, the congregation started its mission in the Philippines in 1985.The Sisters of Mary School works primarily by establishing boystowns and girlstowns that serve as boarding schools for deserving students coming from poor families. The institution provides food, clothing, shelter, medical care and quality secondary education intensive on technical-vocational curriculum, all free of charge.

Due to massive globalization, the congregation re-structured the secondary curriculum by having three (3) years for the high school and one (1) year Post-Secondary in TVET. This gave rise to the Sisters of Mary Technical Education Institute Cavite/Cebu, Inc. The Post-Secondary Department applied for the Unified TVET Program Registration and Accreditation System (UTPRAS).The Sisters of Mary Technical Education Institute Cavite/Cebu, Inc. aims to provide relevant, high quality and efficient technical education and skills development through the inculcation of desirable values on moral character giving emphasis on work ethics, self-discipline, self-reliance and love of God and fellowmen.

After the training period, the trainees undergo assessment by TESDA's accredited assessors. Once competent, the trainees are awarded the National Certificate (NC) I or II depending on the qualification they applied for. And because of that kind of schooling program the school has, it gives the alumnus great advantages against those high school students that graduated from other secondary schools.

CHAPTER III: Research Methodology This part presents the research methods and designs to show the need to conduct a study among the cadets

Research Designs The descriptive method of research was employed in the present research. Descriptive research involves collecting data to answer questions concerning the current status of the subject under the study. The answer will depend also to the respondents which are the cadets here in NTMA through the questionnaire that we will give to them as part of the study.

Methods of Data Collection

Primary

The study will take account of the response of the respondents as the questionnaires were given to them to gather supportive data and information to answer the statement of the problem of “Advantages and Disadvantages of those NTMA cadets who graduated in Sisters of Mary School”

Secondary The research study also collects information through surfing the internet and reading some various journals or books in the library related to the research study topic.

Research Instrument

The researcher of this study decides to use a survey questionnaire to answer the problems related to the topic. The questionnaire has its two parts, at the top portion of the paper you can see questions regarding to the respondents personal information and on the succeeding part are the questions that will give answers to the problem made by the researcher.

The Data Gathering Procedure

Upon finalizing the problem of the study, the researcher constructed various questions that are related to the topic. The respondents are randomly selected according to their availability and knowledge to answer the questionnaire. The instrument is personally distributed by the researcher and was gathered afterwards for analysis of the gathered data.

Chapter IV: Presentations, Interpretation and Analysis of data

Statistical Treatment

In this study, the researcher used the weighted arithmetic mean in analyzing the data that that the researcher have gathered using the questionnaire that the researcher have given and distributed to the cadet respondents. The formula of weighted arithmetic mean that the researcher use is:

Wm =

Where: Wm = weighted mean f= frequency of response N = total number of respondents

Point Score Point Interval Descriptive Rating (D.R) 5 4.2 – 5.0 Strongly Agree (S.A) 4 3.4 – 4.1 Agree (A) 3 2.6 – 3.3 Uncertain (U) 2 1.8 – 2.5 Disagree (D) 1 1.0 – 1.7 Strongly Disagree (S.D)

Presentation of Data

Graph 1 Shows the relationship of percentage of “Yes and No”

Graph 1 presents the percentage of Yes and No response of the cadet respondents showing the relationship of it. The graph shows that all of the respondents agree to the question “Is it a great advantage that you have already adapted to homesickness?” as shown in the graph to questions number 3, and small number of respondents agrees to the question, “Do you find it hard to cope with new technologies that we have today, since you were staying for a long time inside the Sisters of Mary School?”.

Table 1 Frequency and Weighted Mean Distribution of Level of Agreement as Perceived by the Cadet Respondent

Questions S.A A U D S.D ∑ Wm D.R

  1. 1 2 4 6 0 0 12 3.67 A
  2. 2 2 2 3 3 2 12 2.92 U
  3. 3 5 5 2 0 0 12 4.17 A
  4. 4 3 5 3 1 0 12 3.83 A
  5. 5 4 4 3 1 0 12 3.92 A

The table1 shows the frequency and weighted mean of response of the respondents. All statements on question number 1,3,4,and 5 shows the weighted mean of 3.67, 4.17, 3.83,and 3.92 respectively having good descriptive rating which is the number 3 question being the highest weighted mean of 4.17 for that item. While in the other hand the item with the lowest weighted mean of 2.92 is item number 2.

Graph 2 shows the weighted mean of every question

Graph 2 shows the summation of the gathered informations from the survey conducted by the researcher. The graph shows that question # 3 has the greatest weighted mean among the five statements which states that SOM graduates are more religious than the graduates of other secondary school which shows that almost all of the respondents agreed to the written statement. While question # 2 got the lowest weighted mean stating that, Graduates of other secondary school are happier because they are with their parents, unlike SOM graduates.
