David Machel Osiany is one of Kenya's promising young leaders who hails from Kanga village, Kanyamamba locations, Rongo District, Migori County in Kenya. From a staunch Adventist family, David is a brother of 4 siblings (One brother and 3 sisters).


David Osiany went to SonySugar Complex Primary School where his leadership and art talents were nurtured. While in primary school, apart from being a prefect throughout and finally Head-boy, David was a very successful drama and music festivals awardee, rising to become Kenya's National Overall Best Actor in 1999 Kenya Schools and Colleges Drama Festival alongside numerous awards in both drama and music at provincial, district and divisional stages. Apart from being a talented student in primary school, David was also a leading student in class throughout Primary school.


Osiany went to St. Mary's School, Yala for his secondary education where he furthered his drama and music talents, while also growing hobbies of writing. and public speaking. One of the school's best public speakers and great orators, David chaired the schools Drama, Debate and Journalism clubs. He was robustly involved in the leadership of the school's Christian Union where his older brother was the Secretary General.


He later joined Orero High School from where he proceeded to join the University of Nairobi where he admitted in the Faculty of Arts to study B.A. Communication, Literature and Sociology.

In his first year of study at the University of Nairobi, David Osiany was elected the Faculty of Arts Representative (The largest faculty in the university) student in the Students' Organization of the University of Nairobi (SONU'). 'In his second year of study, David would make history to become the first second year 2009/2010 (junior student) to become a powerful and most memorable Chairman/President of Kenya's largest and most controversial students' union SONU. Interestingly, his election was surprising as he ran against a popular, senior and wealthy opponent. He is remembered, not only for his great ad meticulous oratory skills, but also for remarkable achievements among them; streamlining finance management in the union, increasing the bursary from 1 Million to 3 Million, revitalizing and re-inventing the dilapidated SONU office, re-branding SONU and revitalizing SONU's image, Starting the student debates with national leaders, supporting various religious groups , mobilizing funds for the designing of an electronic voting system which was not adopted, robustly negotiating for increased numbers of exchange programs and fast-tracking adoption of the digitized room allocations.

In 2015 David was awarded the coveted Chevening Scholarship (a prestigious scholarship program for young leaders that is sponsored by the U.K. government) and proceeded to the University of Bristol to pursue MSc. Public Policy and is scheduled to graduate in 2016.

He was involved in the campaigns for Kenya's new constitution in 2010, leading one of the countrywide youth campaigning units for the YES campaign.


While in school, he worked for HOT 96 FM Radio station of Royal media where he was a sports anchor as well as initiated the program HOT SEAT with co-host Chris Okinda, a role he undertook for 3 years. David Osiany graduated in 2011 from the University of Nairobi.


The career of David Osiany spans from Media (Presenter - Royal Media), Advocacy (Governance Associate - Oxfam GB Pan-Africa) to founding and being CEO of Y-LEAD Africa (Youth for Leadership, Education, Advocacy and Development) which is a non-governmental organization that inspires young people to achieve their potentials in East Africa. He is also the Group Chairman and CEO of Davmac Group of Companies.


In 2012/2013 David was involved in the campaigns of the CORD party flag-bearer and then Prime Minister of Kenya Raila Odinga. He was the youngest director in the CORD Presidential Campaign Secretariat, starting as the Dep. Director of Field Operations and Political Affairs, but finally heading the Youth Affairs component of the countrywide campaign.


David Osiany is a staunch Seventh-Day Adventist christian, a great orator, renown motivational speaker who has been invited to local and worldwide conferences, a musician with two gospel albums to his name, a preacher and an environmentalist with the lucrative accolade of being a Bayer/UNEP Young Environmental Envoy. He is also greatly involved in community work with HACOP (Hayward Community Orphanage Program) and supports an annual football tournament in his community.
