Life at Merced Assembly Center
[edit]The Mercedian Newspaper
[edit]The Mercedian was supposed to be a newsletter limited to more personal aspects of the internees’ lives inside the camps.
However, to be as unbiased and neutral as possible, besides covering current events that were occurring at the time, The Mercedian offered insights into the culture, sports, politics, and statistical data of the Assembly Center.
Ironically, although it was a newsletter for internees, articles in The Mercedian covered such things as patriotic themes on the Fourth of July. [1]
