Constantine I defeated the Franks as Caesar under Severus and proceded in fighting the Alamanni. Severus, in the meanwhile invaded Italy. His army changed allegiance to Maxentius and Maximian, and he fled to Ravenna.

Maximian attacked Ravenna and Severus surrendered to him.

Now, Galerius invaded Italy and Severus was killed in captivity in Rome.
