Textalytics is a Software as a Service product that enables users to embed text analytics and semantic processing in any application or system -in an effective and inexpensive way.

Textalytics – Meaning as a Service is a brand by Daedalus, S.A.[1]

Textalytics is more than a semantic API: it provides a cloud-based framework that makes the integration of semantic processing into any system almost a plug-and-play experience[2]

In this way, developers and integrators can build solutions that leverage text analytics technologies (media monitoring, voice of the customer analysis, content publishing) with no risks and with a fast time-to-market, pay-per-use model[3].

Functionality[edit]

On one side, Textalytics provides horizontal APIs with standard and granular functionalities that can be combined by users: topic extraction, text classification, sentiment analysis, etc.  These compose the Core API group.

But Textalytics also offers vertical APIs optimized for different industries and application scenarios[4]. These APIs include dictionaries, taxonomies, process pipelines and functionalities specific to these applications, which build a layer of high added value on top of a standard, basic semantic functionality[5]. Textalytics’ semantic APIs speak the same language that describes business needs[6]

The product’s functionality can be seen as composed by the following APIs:

  • Media Analysis API (for marketing agencies, press clipping services and social media analysis providers): brand/organization/people monitoring, theme classification, opinion analysis, in both social and traditional media.
  • Semantic Publishing API (for media companies, publishers and content providers): tagging, enrichment, proofreading and standardization of content.
  • Voice of the Customer API (due November 2014): corporate reputation, brand perception, trend detection, UGC moderation, customer journey, CRM-oriented semantic processing.
  • Core API (for developers in general who want to build their own linguistic pipelines and resources): topic extraction, sentiment analysis, classification, relationships detection, demographic profiling, connection with linked data.

These APIs are available in the following languages: English, Spanish, French, Italian, Catalan, Portuguese.

Integration and customization[edit]

Vertical APIs provide a functionality optimized for diverse applications and ease of use. In addition, customization and integration capabilities offer a fast learning curve and a short time to obtain results.

  • Customized resource management tools allow users to easily incorporate their own semantic resources (dictionaries, taxonomies) to adapt the operation of the system to their needs.
  • SDKs and plug-ins increase the convenience and integrability of the APIs in the most common environments and platforms[7]. Textalytics provides SDKs for Java, Python and PHP, and plug-ins for Microsoft Excel and GATE[8].

The results are a higher productivity and a shorter time-to-market for customers.
