Filmtec Corporation Filmtec Corporation is a subsidiary of Dow Chemical Company focusing mostly on water. It is the second largest manufacturer of reverse osmosis membranes in the world. Filmtec manufactures mostly membranes used in reverse osmosis water purification and nanofiltration.
Applications of Filmtec membranes exist in the industries of water purification, desalination, maple syrup, power generation, and computer chip manufacturing. Membranes and nanofiltration elements come in different diameters and lengths, with a 4” or 8” diameter membranes used in industry are commonly referred to as a “big membrane”.
Filmtec’s main competitors are Hydranautics, manufactured by Nitto Denko, and Osmonics, owned by G.E.
