Votes in arbitration cases[edit]

The format used to indicate voting on a case acceptance, a summary motion, or a request for clarification is of the form accept/decline/recuse/other. Accept and decline mean just what they say, and four net accept votes (that is, four more accepts than declines) are usually required to carry a motion or accept a case. Recuse means the arbitrator is personally involved with the case, and therefore declines to act in it. Other is usually used to indicate a comment which does not express a formal vote.
