Hutchinson, on April 19, 1958. He was raised in Monrovia, where he began his formal education at the Edwin Barclay Elementary School. Because his family maintained roots in both Monrovia and Grand Bassa County, Joe later returned to Grand Bassa and enrolled at the WPL Brumskine United Methodist Junior High School in Buchanan and 1980 graduated from the William V S Tubman High School in Monrovia.

Soon after completing his middle school education in Buchanan, Joe returned to Monrovia and attended William V. S. Tubman High School. By the time he left Tubman High, Joe had developed a strong appetite for technical education. Consequently, he moved on to Monrovia Vocational Training Center where, unsurprisingly, he excelled in the electronics curriculum.

He then entered the professional world as an electronic telecommunications specialist. Hard work and enthusiasm paid off for him and in 1985, Joe Hutchinson became the CEO of The Buchanan Broadcasting Station in Buchanan. In 1988, he was employed with the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company as a telecommunication specialist. As a testimony to his competence in electronics, he was named Chief Engineer for the Buchanan Broadcasting Service organized by the Liberian Broadcasting System (LBS) in 1992.

Joe has broadened his interest and knowledge by obtaining an Electronic Engineering Technology Degree from Devry University.

He is employed with Kraft Foods Global as a packaging technical advisor. Moreover, he is the CEO of his brainchild, Africa TV One and the Dawala Promotions Inc. Joe is also an avid photographer and a slave to anything having to do with electronic communications.

As of March 2021, Joseph Dawala Hutchinson aka J Dawala Hutchinson is planning to retire from the Kraft Foods in Atlanta, Georgia now known as Mondelez international and move on to broadcast technology in Liberia. A new technology is to be introduced to the people of Liberia in TV broadcast. As of this date, February 26th, 2021, citizens of most of Liberia use data to watch tv and stream contents. Hutchinson want to introduce analog-digital broadcast to most under privilege citizens of the interior of Liberia. Wirk is underway.
