I am the Senior Tutor at St Cuthbert's Society and therefore have a vested interest in what is written on this site. As I am also the Admissions Tutor for St Cuthbert's Society and also responsible for marketing, I am compelled to edit out any inaccurate and out-of-date information and therefore ensuring prospective students make informed choices about their Durham College. St Cuthbert's Society, as most of you will know, was a student led and student run organisation from 1888 to 1947 (with little or no intervention from the University). However, St Cuthbert's Society is a college in everything but name (as agreed by St Cuthbert's Society Council) and the University allows us to retain the title "Society" for historic reasons. The Sabbatical President is the President of the Junior Common Room and not the Society. The responsibility of managing the Society rests with the Principal with support of the Senior Tutor and the Bursar. Please note that the title "Sabbatical President of the Student Body" was agreed by Council in May 2008.
