Background

Denise Nazario born May 23, 2001 is a painter and charcoal artist who practices her art in California. Her work consists of mostly portraits, and cartoon style images. Nazario has participated in an art walk where her work was displayed along with other artists to the general public. There she sold her first artworks and began to develop her Instagram art page @nazartio. She met other artists and became exposed to different styles and art techniques. It was there that she discovered ways to improve her art and ways to spread it.

Life

Nazario was born in Los Angeles where she lived with her family up until the age of 7. She is the youngest of three siblings and is the daughter of immigrant parents. She later moved to Claremont where she began to immerse herself into art more and learned about the possible career paths with art. She discovered her love for movies and films and developed an admiration for animated content, an industry she knew she eventually wanted to be a part of.

Education and Aspirations

Nazario is an animation major at California State University Fullerton and is pursuing her degree to create animated content and work with a production studio, or work independently. It was in her first year of college that she discovered her favorite medium, charcoal. With it, she created portraits and practiced her anatomy to facilitate drawing the human body. She was able to understand lighting and contour a lot better when exposed to charcoal and live models. Her aim is to eventually become part of a character design team or work hands on with film scenes.
