From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Antonio Delgado is the representative-elect of New York's 19th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives.[1][2] On June 26, 2018, he won the Democratic primary with 22% of the vote and went on to the November, 2018 election where he won a seat against incumbent congressman John Faso on November 6th.[3][4][5] Prior to running for office, Delgado was an attorney.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Delgado grew up in Schenectady, New York.[2] He attended Colgate University, earned a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University where he studied philosophy and political theory[6]. He then attended and received a law degree from Harvard Law School.[7] After graduating from Harvard, he founded a record label in Los Angeles called Statik Entertainment and worked as a hip-hop artist under the name AD the Voice[8]. He began working as a solo law practitioner in Los Angeles, before moving back to New York as an associate (attorney) in the New York offices of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, a position he kept after moving to Rhinebeck in 2017.[2][7][9][10]

Personal Life[edit]

Delgado is married to Lacey Schwartz, a documentary film-maker and fellow Harvard Law Alumnus[11].

In the media[edit]

In addition to various local media covering the local 19th district election, Delgado was a key figure in a June 2018 episode (#649) of This American Life, where a contrast is drawn between Delgado, and a more progressive democratic candidate, Jeff Beals[12].
