WIKIPEDIA ON STONE AGE :-
The Stone Age, which spanned from around 2.5 million years ago to about 4,000 years ago, is a prehistoric period characterized by the use of stone tools. While there wasn't traditional "big data" as we know it today, information in this era was primarily transmitted orally and through cave paintings, carvings, and simple symbols. These conveyed essential knowledge about hunting, gathering, and early social structures, serving as a form of communicatio dayn and information sharing within small communities. The information was limited in scope but critical for survival during that time.
The Stone Age is a prehistoric period characterized by the widespread use of stone tools. It is divided into three major periods:
1. Paleolithic (Old Stone Age): This period started around 2.5 million years ago and lasted until around 10,000 BCE. During this time, early humans were hunter-gatherers, relying on hunting wild animals and gathering plants for their sustenance. They created basic stone tools and lived in small, nomadic groups.
2. Mesolithic (Middle Stone Age): The Mesolithic period followed the Paleolithic and lasted from approximately 10,000 BCE to 8,000 BCE. It saw the development of more advanced stone tools, as well as the beginning of agriculture and the domestication of animals. This led to settled communities and a shift toward a more sedentary lifestyle.
3. Neolithic (New Stone Age): The Neolithic period began around 8,000 BCE and lasted until around 3,000 BCE. It was characterized by the widespread use of polished stone tools, the development of pottery, and the growth of agriculture. Neolithic communities practiced farming, which allowed for surplus food production and larger, more stable settlements.
These periods mark significant milestones in human history as our ancestors gradually transitioned from nomadic hunter-gatherers to settled agricultural communities, setting the stage for the development of complex societies and civilizations.
