There are several levels for digimon. When the digimon digivolve,
they go to a more powerful level. the levels are:

1. Fresh

2. In training

3. Rookie

4. Champion

5. Ultimate

6. Mega

There are different ways to digivolve.

1. Regular. When a digimon accesses the next level (like, rookie to champion)

2. Warp. When a rookie goes straight to mega (impmon to beelzemon)

3. Armor. When a digimon uses a digi egg to digivolve (gatomon armor digivolve to nefertimon)

4. Mode change. When a mega changes to become more powerful but stays the same species (gallantmon mode change to gallantmon crimson mode)

5. DNA digivolve. When two digimon digivolve together to the next level (angemon and ankylomon DNA digivolve to shakkamon)

6. Spirit. When a human uses a spirit to transform into a digimon ( Zoe into Kazemon).

On digimon, as shown in Digimon adventure, there are 3 types of digimon: vaccine, virus and data.
