“DJ JUANO BIOGRAPHY”

DJ Juano is a diversified DJ as he can scratch and blend music and videos for Latin, American Top 40, and Hip Hop events. He is based in the New York City tri-state area and is part of Lo Maximo Productions (LMP). Juano was destined to be a DJ. After all, it’s in his family’s DNA. Through his LMP show and various mixtapes, as well as his determination and dedication, DJ Juano has achieved critical acclaim and recognition, as he has been nominated by LatinMixx 2012 for “Best DJ on the Rise.”

The first time that Juano started thinking as a DJ was when he used to go to bars with his cousins. Because he was underage, he couldn’t drink so he paid attention to the music that the bar DJ played. Instinctively, knowing that the music could be better.

It was during high school that DJing became something more than a hobby. As part of his high school's football team he would bring a boombox cassette player during the team’s bus ride to the games. Juano was ‘scratching’ the music by repeatedly pressing the stop and start button. His teammates started calling him “Juanmanatti”, a nickname based on a NYC hip hop DJ, Cluemanatti a.k.a. DJ Clue.

Being now inspired, he bought a Gemini mixer, Numark CDN-88 dual CD player, and one cheap speaker that was enough to get a sound out. He practiced and practiced and the basics came to him fast.

Persistence proved to be the key to success. Every Friday, after a week of practicing, Juano would show up at Don Juan’s, a club where his cousin, Lil Jay, was DJing. Finally, he was given his very first opportunity to mix in front of a crowd. That was the day DJ Juano was born.

From there, he joined LMP, and soon after that, he landed his first paid venue: DJing at Winner’s Circle in Long Island. As time went on, Juano started DJing throughout the boroughs of New York, and soon after expanded his territory into tri-state cities.

Lo Maximo Productions showcases its best DJs of the roster by giving them weekly web shows. For the past few years Juano has been consistently featured every Saturday from 4pm to 6pm on his “Remix Sessions” web series. This exposure helped land events outside of the tri-state including areas in major cities of Massachusetts, Virginia, and Florida. X96.3 FM featured Juano in a live club transmission from LaBoom on Saturday nights. This got him exposure but it was his first mixtape, Remix Sessions Volume 1, that started getting him recognition within the DJ community.

Learning to yield his passion of music to entertain people has been a fun and amazing experience. Grateful to be able to work alongside many other DJ’s, Juano is aiming for the next level with the determination and dedication that has carried him from the beginning.
