Dan and Ezra[edit]

Dan and Ezra is a children's television show featured on the Hang Meas HDTV Channel in Cambodia. It premiered on April 20, 2014 and is in its fourth season. The show typically airs new episodes from 10 P.M. to 11 P.M. on Thursdays, as well as rerun episodes. Production is expected to continue in its fifth season. The show was created by Daniel Kutzin and Ezra Brooks and stars the two creators in their titular production. It follows the trials and tribulations of two students as they live in Southeast Asia, including their problems at school, with friends, or with family.

Characters[edit]

Main Characters[edit]

Dan[edit]

Dan Kutzin is one of two main characters in the show. He is in the eighth grade and soon to be graduating middle school in the show's first season. He is now in the eleventh grade. As the older of the two friends, Dan often has wisdom to impart on Ezra (and the audience). However, he is also a silly character and often finds himself in situations that require assistance from other characters in the show, particularly Ezra. In the show, Dan is the student council president and always in political competition with an oppositional group of friends. He is also in the school's pep band and plays the quint toms.

Ezra[edit]

Ezra Brooks is the other main character in the show. He is in the seventh grade and still has much of middle school to complete in the show's first season. He is now with Dan in high school in the fourth season. Although Dan is older, Ezra participates in more activities. Like Dan, however, he also gets into complex situations in a manner mirroring Dan's experiences. Ezra is the captain of the windsurfing team at the school, something he tries when his family moves to Cambodia. He also plays basketball and inspired by the death of his friend, serves as an emergency medical responder from time to time. Ezra aspires to be a doctor to improve Cambodia's health standards in the show.

Recurring Characters[edit]

Gabe[edit]

Gabriel is the most frequent recurring character in the show. Born into New York royalty, Gabe constantly brings controversial takes into Ezra's and Dan's conversations. He is younger than the two main characters in the show, but too struggles with the day-to-day life of being a middle and high schooler. Like Dan, he becomes the president of the student council when he is in eighth grade. His family also lives in Cambodia in the show, where Gabe's mother learns the Southeast Asian cuisine for a restaurant chain she wants to bring back to Manhattan.

Ethan[edit]

Ethan is another recurring character in the show. Unlike the main characters or Gabe, he is from the West Coast and often brings his own opinions into conversations involving classes, girls, or whatever issues the boys are exploring in the episodes. Ethan is portrayed as equally intelligent in school as the other characters, but is considered the silly one in the group outside of class. He is in the windsurfing club with Ezra. His family has also moved to Cambodia, but he cannot wait to reunite with his middle school girlfriend, Morgan, once they return to the United States.

David[edit]

David is the only native Cambodian in the show, as it focuses mainly on an American group of kids and their families. He is constantly teaching Dan and Ezra the cultural background of Thailand through acting and singing, two of his hobbies. David takes Dan under his wing in the first season after their first pep band rehearsal. Since then, the group of friends has benefitted immensely from David's native knowledge of Cambodia.

Episodes[edit]

Dan and Ezra is in its fourth season. Previously, three seasons have aired in Cambodia. Initially, the show had fewer seasons. Due to its popularity, this number has increased. The fifth season is expected to air in late August of 2018 and have approximately 20 episodes as well.
