I have a doctorate in linguistics with a specialty in syntax and have worked in the field for many years. In particular, I worked in a machine translation project in the Netherlands that made use of dependency grammar for all of its syntactic representations. Since then, I have worked to increase understanding among linguists of the differences between dependency and constituency and how dependency structures are particularly compatible with logical representations of semantic structure.
