"God is the mastermind of miracles and turmoils- D. Carson." Dom or Dominique Myesha Carson's journey from silence is very rewarding. Hearing impaired as a child, but was destined to partake in a profession that would change her life forever. With the help of her mother, Monique Kelly, sister, Nashira Canady, a host of relatives, friends, colleagues, and her faith in God, Carson was able to spread her wings and soar immediately. Carson is a young woman who truly has a passion for journalism. Journalism fills her heart with so much gratification. The lifestyle of a journalist grabbed her attention at the age of eight and she strives to be superb in her future profession. Her work has been featured in Urbane Perspective Media+ Lifestyle, Spotlight for Recovery magazine, Brooklyn College Excelsior, Bay Currents, Brooklyntoday.info, Amsterdam News, and Education Update. She is currently a diligent student at Brooklyn College. During the Spring 2011 semester, Carson was on BC's Dean List and received an award for her contributions as a feature writer for Brooklyn College's newspaper, Excelsior. Carson is a Journalism and Italian Teacher major at BC and her grade point average for both majors are above 3.0. And yes, she is fluent in Italian and she was able to study abroad in Florence, Italy during the winter intercession. Carson took a course entitled, "Food, Culture, and Society." Outside of her professional life, Carson is humble, grounded, family-oriented, and understands that God is the central foundation in her life.
