Similkameen Place is a residential building located on the University of British Columbia (Okanagan Campus). Located on the unceded territory of the Sylix Okanagan nation, this residence offers single-room housing as well as common areas for students to congregate while providing opportunities to reduce waste and live sustainably[1]. This dormitory is home to primarily undergraduate students.





Facilities and Programs[edit]

The Similkameen residence offers a wide range of facilities to be used by students residing in the dormitory. These include common spaces, which are equipped with a snacking kitchen and basic cable TV, and Wireless Internet. Similkameen Place also contains 166 fully furnished rooms containing a twin XL bed, a desk, and storage, as well as a connected single-gender bathroom. Students in this residence must also purchase a meal plan.

History[edit]

The University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus opened in 2005 in Kelowna as an extension of the Vancouver campus. It boasts small class sizes, accessible research opportunities, and a beautiful background of the Okanagan valley.
