Professor Abdur Rouf (born 1978) is a Bangladeshi academician and researcher. He was appointed Professor in Accounting of the Daffodil International University in 2024.

Early life and education

Professor Md. Abdur Rouf, born in 1978 in Nakua, Chandaikona, under Sherpur Upazila in Bogura District, is the son of Md. Tafir Uddin. His academic journey commenced with the completion of his S.S.C. from Chandaikona High School in 1994, followed by his H.S.C. from Govt. Azizul Haque College, Bogura in 1996. He obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degrees with a major in Accounting from the University of Rajshahi in 2001 and 2002, respectively. In 2016, he was awarded his Ph.D. in "Firm-Specific Characteristics, Corporate Governance, and Voluntary Disclosure in Annual Reports of Listed Companies of Bangladesh" from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Following a scholarship from the Indian Government, he pursued an IT-based training course titled OATM in New Delhi, India. Embarking on his academic career in 2007, he served several reputed institutions in Bangladesh. Presently, he holds the position of Professor of Accounting in the Department of Business Administration at Daffodil International University. For over eighteen years, he has actively engaged in instructing undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Prof. Rouf is enthusiastic about engaging in knowledge exchange and contributing his expertise in business domains, particularly in Accounting, Corporate Financial Reporting, Managerial Accounting, and Business Research Methodology. He welcomes opportunities to acquire new insights and expand his understanding through interactions with fellow professionals. Certified as a reviewer for Emerald, Elsevier, and Springer journals, his research interests span Corporate Financial Reporting and Corporate Governance, voluntary disclosure, corporate social responsibility reporting, systemic literature review (SLR), and environmental reporting. His 37 articles were published in national and international journals and conferences majority of which are Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus indexed.

Career

With over nineteen years (2005-2024) of dedicated service in academia, my career journey has been marked by a steadfast commitment to advancing in the field of Accounting while nurturing a passion for teaching and learning. Starting as a Lecturer at Asian University of Bangladesh in April 2005, I spent over four years cultivating a deep understanding of the subject. Transitioning to Senior Lecturer in October 2009, I continued to refine my skills and contribute to academic discourse until June 2011. Joining City University, Bangladesh as an Assistant Professor of Accounting in June 2011, I dedicated over four years to educating and inspiring students while deepening my expertise. In January 2016, I embarked on a new chapter at Daffodil International University, where I demonstrated a commitment to excellence, guiding students to success and engaging in scholarly pursuits. Simultaneously, as an Adjunct Faculty at Uttara University, Dhaka, from December 2013 to December 2015, I shared knowledge with aspiring business leaders. Recognized for my contributions, I was promoted to Associate Professor at Daffodil International University in February 2018, continuing to mentor students and engage in research. Currently serving as a Professor since February 2024, I uphold academic excellence, shaping the future of accounting professionals while remaining dedicated to empowering students for success.
