Project Title- Social Norms and our University Objective I propose to. . . My group and I are going to do a YouTube video and research different social norms associated with Ohio University which is considered a college full of students and not many commuters. We want to see how norms change behind 'closed doors' if you will. Interest This is interesting because. . . As students here, we interact with our peers on a daily basis. It would be interesting to see how norms tend to change depending on the crowd you surround yourself with. Background reading I will read wikipedia, text book and other basic sociology texts on the following topics:

Social norms, college campus life (what is expected and what goes on), first hand interviews with subjects.

I will find popular press discussions of my topic. Perhaps Wikipedia articles, blog entrys, newspaper and magazine stories, etc.- General Plan I plan to. . .d. In doing this project I will be responsible for going out into the Ohio University campus and interviewing several different subjects who are relevant to our topic, about 5 or so. I will film these interviews and pick out relevant parts. We will then piece together a video with more added. Collaboration- I will be working with Mitch Minadeo and Mike Miller

1. I am doing and YouTube video. 2. It is about social norms experienced by students around Ohio University 3. We are yet to submit the video due to editing that needs to be done. 4. I am working on this project with Mitch Minadeo, Mike Miller and Chris 5. "A norm is something is society that is socially enforced." 6. We as a group are determining what that the general norms are throughout campus and determining how students tend to deviate from them. 7. I found a study online about social norms in college and drinking. 8.The selected prevention intervention model (termed the social influence, social norms, social marketing, normative influence, or proactive model) (Berkowitz, 1997, 1998) is an environmental approach that focuses on correcting students’ misperceptions of college norms related to alcohol consumption through use of a mass media campaign. 9 . We can use this study as a general comparison to what norms we find to what there study accomplished. 10.
