Post modernism has increased individuals’ private spheres proving challenging for anthropologists to conduct appropriate fieldwork in the 21^st century.^[2]

The author, Eugenia Shanklin had an extensive knowledge in sociocultural anthropology. She was a professor at The College of New Jersey and taught also at Princeton University and Wolfgang Goethe University in Germany.^[3]

Troulliot was a Haitian anthropologist and authored several books regarding unequal power structures and their impact on society.^[4]

David Kertzer is an American anthropologist, Professor at Brown University, and winner of the Pulitzer Prize (award for achievement in written published work).^[5]
