Deborah Schoeneman is an American journalist, novelist and television writer.
She is currently a staff writer for "90210" on the CW and consulting on a pilot based on one of her articles for HBO, produced by Harpo.
Before moving to Los Angeles in 2008, she spend a decade working as a journalist in New York City. She was a staff writer and real estate columnist for The New York Observer, a staff writer in the features section for New York Post and a Contributing Editor for New York magazine and Conde Nast Portfolio magazine. She was also the Editor in Chief of Hampton Style magazine. Her freelance articles have appeared in the New York Times Sunday Styles section, The Daily Beast and C magazine, where she's a Contributing Writer. In 2006, Random House published her first novel, "4% Famous." DKNY sponsored the multi-city book tour. In 2009, She helped launch the Huffington Post's LA page.
Her most popular articles: In 2001, she wrote a story for The New York Observer about Googling guys before she went on dates with them. The New York Times Magazine’s “On Language” column gave her credit for coining the verb “To Google.”
In 2009, she wrote a story for The New York Times Sunday Styles section about The Fempire, a group of female screenwriters in L.A. that includes Diablo Cody, Lorene Scafaria, Dana Fox and Liz Meriwether.
