Hi there world,

I'm David Sidwell. I'm an I.T. Consultant and Freelance Writer from Williamstown in Victoria, Australia; only a short distance from Melbourne. My interests - reflected in my editing work here at Wikipedia - include Australian History (particularly the Victorian Gold rush), travel in Victoria and Australia, bushwalking and movies; particularly Australian films.

My background is physics, Monash University (1979-1982). From there it was straight into I.T. - IBM Australia. Since then I've worked at only a few places and now run my own business; http://www.artwill.com.au.

On the writing side, I'm a regular contributor to Melbourne's Age newspaper; specifically the Livewire section of the Green Guide. My main focus there is free and/or open source software as well as interesting background pieces on technology.
