Chicken Chuckin consists of pitching or sliding frozen chickens along ice similar to curling and shuffleboard. It is usually played outside on frozen ponds but in theory could be played on any ice rink.
Points are scored by pitching the chicken onto certain zones or areas. The point zones are one, two and three points in value. Rules may vary dependent on weather conditions and local customs.
Since 2000, the Kilt and Clover pub in Port Dalhousie, Ontario, hosts the International Chicken Chuckin Championships every January.[1] Billed as a bird-brain sporting contest, the community event raises money for local charities including the community food bank.[2]
The 2010 International Chicken Chuckin Championships have grown into a larger annual chicken themed festival in Port Dalhousie, Ontario, called Fowl Fest! Organized by the Port Dalhousie Business Association,Fowl Fest! features chicken inspired menus/specials, a competition for the "King of the Wing" title and a variety of events including "Wing bowl" and the International Chicken Chucking Championships.[3]
