Silenize is a metal band from Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

History

[edit]

Inception (2007-2008)

[edit]

The band formed in 2007, initially including Chase Lingen as the frontman, Nate Carey on lead guitar and backing vocals, Greg Brown behind the drums, and Josh Brown at the bass. Following issues within the band, Josh was replaced by bassist Seth Renz.

The Demo (2008-2009)

[edit]

On February 28, 2009, three months after Seth joined the lineup, the band entered the studio to begin recording their first demo. This demo was limited to five tracks, which the band narrowed down from their full set of over twenty. The demo is currently in post-production and will soon be released.[1]

Two Days in the Cellar EP (Late 2009-Early 2010)

[edit]

Midway through 2009, Silenize went back to recording after playing more shows. This second studio was higher quality. They recorded three new tracks that better defined them as a band and what their musical intentions were. These tracks further elaborated on their ability to make songs that are hard and heavy (such as Dirt Nap) as well as softer, more melodic songs (such as Lost Souls).

The Two Days in the Cellar EP contains the three newly recorded tracks as well as the unreleased tracks originally intended for the earlier demo.

Musical Characteristics

[edit]

Silenize plays heavy metal that sometimes strays toward the rap metal genre[2] (in songs such as "What I Deserve" and "The Phoenix") that utilizes a balance of clean, harmonious vocals (courtesy of Nate) and Chase's hard, driven screams.
