Asmaa Alanbari is an internationally influenced woman artist whose work includes painting, installations and talks. Her work reflects a life spent in Baghdad, New York, Paris, and Patagonia. Now based in London, she uses that background to depict characters, stories and places that do not conform to the ordinary as they are themselves products of heterogenous cultures. The themes of peace and identity are continuously explored in her work. The effect of land, geography and nature on the soul is a significant element of study in her art.

Alanbari was born in Iraq and her father is from Babylon, 60km south of Baghdad. Alanbari's training as an architect and land planner gave her a solid understanding of the fundamentals of art: light, proportions, colour and most importantly a critical mind. These were earned from Paris' Ecole Speciale d'Architecture and The London School of Economics. She is also doing a part time MA in Fine Art from London's Chelsea College of Art.
