The Centre of Biological Engineering (CEB) is a research unit funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia^[1]), located at University of Minho as hosting institution in Portugal.^[2] Core research is allocated to 3 interdisciplinary thematic areas that cover the molecular, cellular and process scales, viz.: Industrial and Food Biotechnology and Bioengineering, Environmental Biotechnology and Bioengineering, and Health Biotechnology and Bioengineering. In summary, CEB aims to be a strategic infrastructure for the development of R&D and innovation policies in the areas of Biotechnology and Bioengineering, Biomaterials, Biomedical and Life Sciences, Environmental and Agricultural Sciences.

Evaluation by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology

In the latest (2014) Evaluation of R&D Units by FCT, CEB was rated as Excellent.^[3]^[4]
