The Green Initiative Fund is a dedicated student Sustainability at American Colleges and Universities#Green fees//History of student green fees (text:"green fee") whose revenue is applied as grants to campus sustainability projects proposed by students. The first TGIF was approved by the UC Santa Barbara student body in 2006, drawing from past examples of university green fees (expand: article [uni green fees]?).[1] Since 2006, TGIF bills have been passed by student governments at various California universities, including: UC Santa Cruz, UC San Diego, UC Irvine, UC Los Angeles, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and UC Berkeley.
The Green Initiative Fund is endorsed by the California Student Sustainability Coalition, member of the Energy Action Coalition, a North American coalition of youth climate action groups.[2][3] [4]
