Ramayana (Japanese: ラーマーヤナ, Hepburn: Rāmāyana) is a 1942 Japanese tokusatsu puppet film credited to brothers Mōfu Asano [ja] and Tatsumaro Asano, based on a screenplay by Kōhan Kawauchi, which in turn is based on the eponymous Hindu legend. Produced by Toho Co., Ltd., the film is now considered to be Japan's first marionette film.[1]
