Hermitage Academy is a non-denominational secondary school in Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It is one of two secondary schools located in Helensburgh, the other being Lomond School, and currently holds the second largest student count in Argyll and Bute succeeding Oban High.

History

Hermitage Acdemy was originally located in Campbell Drive, Helensburgh before being relocated to the new campus on the outskirts of Helensburgh in February 2008.

The current headmaster is Mr. Geoff Urie

The school's motto is Nulla Virtus Sine Labore - 'Nothing Achieved Without Hard Work'

Expressive Arts

The expressive arts are an integral part of the curricular content at the school, with choices including painting, drawing, design, sculpture, theatre, music and dance. Musical and theatrical performances regularly take place both on and off campus.

Athletics

The school offers a range of sports and athletic activities including hockey, football, rugby, volleyball, gymnastics and badminton. The school competes in athletics annually with various secondary schools around Scotland at the Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow.

FAB

FAB (Friends Against Bullying) is a support group run by senior (6th year) students who aim to prevent bullying within the school grounds. FAB also opperates the 'S1 buddy scheme' in which every first year student is paired with a senior student with whom they can confide any problems they have.
