A poetic meter name from Arabic word "سريع" (or definite name "السريع"). This meter is one of the fifteen Arabic meters orignillay found and named by Arab philologist, al-Farahidi in the 2nd AH, that later his pupil, al-Akhfach, added the sixteenth meter, al-Mutadarik ("المتدارك").
