The term Iman has been delineated in both the Quaran as well as the famous Hadith of Gabriel. This name is used by Indian Hindu Brahminus as well as Muslims."


Birth

Emani Eleyse Davis was born November 21, 2000 at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grandblanc, Mi. to the parents of Ronnie and Karla Davis. Currently she resides in Flushing Mi. with her parents and brother Narondi Davis. She learned to walk at 10 months and talk fluently at 1 years old. Emani was a very was fast learner in everything thing she attempted, as she had two older brothers that she mimicked. She was a chunky beautiful tan bundle of joy with a head full of silky hair.


Education

Emani started school as a young 3 year old at St. John Vianney Catholic School. It was there that she learned to read at the age of 4 years old and was able to talk fluently. She later transferred to Faithway Christian School where she completed pre-K to 2nd grade. She later transferred to Woodland Park Academy for 2nd-6th grade where she continued to excel in academics. While at Woodland Park Academy, Emani participated in basketball, karate, violin, and dance. She was fortunate to have a lot of natural ability and did well in all of her activities. Emani participated in several performances and loved violin so much that she took private lessons on the side to become better. It was the love of dance that brought her to Creative Expression Dance Studio to seek out further dance instruction in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and tumbling. Emani is a member of the Flint Youth Hoofers and has participated in Tapology for the last 4 years and was a member of the musical Lucky’s Tap Feet.


Before Emani could finish 6th grade she lost her older brother Derrico to violence. The death of her brother put a big hole in her heart, but knowing that her brother believed she could achieve all that she set her heart to, she persevered and kept her head and heart in check to achieve her goals. Emani finished up at Woodland Park Academy and proceeded to middle School at Swartz Creek. At middle school, Emani continued to excel at academics. She became a member NJHS and was encouraged by her then 7th grade English teacher to submit an essay for the "America and Me Essay" Contest sponsored through Farm Bureau Insurance. Emani won 1rst place at her school in her age group with her essay about her "Hero" Sheila Graham-Miller, her dance teacher. Emani is currently a senior at Swartz Creek High School. She has been a member of National Honor Society and Peers Who Care for the last 2 years. Emani has participated in track, JV bowling 1 year, and 3 years as a Varsity bowler. Emani has been a member of Akettes for 4 years. Akettes is a Youth group sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Zeta Beta Omega Chapter in Flint, Michigan. Since becoming a member of the youth group, Emani has held 2 offices; Secretary and is currently the Vice President.


Community Service

Emani has participated in various community service projects in her community for the last 4 years. With the water crisis in Flint Michigan still being an issue and concern for Flint resident's, Emani has with the help of her Akettes sisters assisted with water distribution and bagged lunches to the those in need in the Flint area. For the last 3.5 years he has participated in Bell ringing in the Genesee Valley Mall, prepared Fruit/Thanksgiving baskets for nursing homes, prepared brown bag lunches, read to seniors at Kith Haven Nursing home, assisted with blanket drives, and assisted her dance instructor with teaching dance lessons to young adolescents at her dance school.


Accomplishments and Future Plans

Emani Davis has received numerous Academic awards for Honor Roll, 2 Varsity letters for Academic Scholar and Bowling. For the Fall 2017-2108 school year Emani was accepted to Aquinas College, Jackson State University, and Grand Valley University. She plans on attending one of these lucky schools and major in Healthcare with plans on becoming a Nurse and later a Nurse Practitioner.
