What is Voice Internet?
Voice (Audio) Internet is a way to access the Internet (the World Wide Web pages) just by using user’s voice and any telephone without using a computer. Users basically talk and listen to the Internet using any phone. One can surf any website, search any word(s), send /receive email, conduct e-commerce. In addition, voice portal features, such as news, weather, horoscopes and directions can be accessed. Voice Internet also supports streaming audio, thus allowing anyone to listen to Internet radios and on-line music.


Who are the Key Users?
Key users are blind/visually impaired, Digital Divide, elderly, and Highly mobile people.


How Users are Using the Voice Internet?
Users mainly use it for email, surfing, searching, listening to radio and more (News, Weather, Horoscope, Shopping,..).


What Are the Key Benefits of the Voice Internet?

  • No need to buy / use a computer which may be difficult for many people
  • no need to buy a special device (thus allowing easy access to many more people)
  • no need to deal with small screen or small keypad as users basically talk and listen much easier to learn as learning how to use a phone is much simpler than learning how to use a computer or personal device
  • no need to re-write the content in another language like WML. Voice Internet accesses and reads content directly fom the WWW (World Wide Web). There are over 2.5 billion websites on the Internet. Re-writing all of them to fit into a small size screen would be very expensive.
  • No need for a person to know how to read or write as users basically talk and listen.
