Christine //Hoebes[edit]

Christine was born approximately 42 years ago in Okombahe in the Erongo region. She moved to Witvlei at the age of four. She started school when she was five years old and when she finished matric she was asked to teach without any qualification, as was the norm at the time. She taught at Gunichas Roman Catholic School, at the same time blossoming her political activism which she started at high school as a student activist through NANSO. Through her involvement with the SWAPO Party, she became an active member of the Swapo Party Youth League and went to teach in Windhoek at Bet - El Primary School, graduating as a qualified teacher at the Windhoek College of Education in 2001.

Now Christine is perhaps the most powerful woman in the corridors of Namibian power-politics, being President Hifikepunye Pohamba's confidante and one of the most trusted officials in the country. She is known as the president's 'right hand-man', a title given to the personal aide of every president. She co-heads the private office of the country's public office as senior Special Assistant to the President and has held this position for the past five years. She has traveled with the President on almost all his foreign, domestic or regional trips and regards meeting other world presidents like George Bush, Robert Mugabe, Dmitriy Medvedev and Jacob Zuma. Apart from coordinating the presidents' work with the Cabinet and other government departments to help himm formulate policies and efficiently run the country, she also sits in on national meetings as the Presidents' support staff.

Being the President's Superwoman, //Hoebes is infuriated at the lack of assertiveness among the Namibian women and hopes to be an inspiration to them.
