Ulenspiegel , Op. 23 is an opera in three acts by Walter Braunfels. The libretto, written by the composer, is based on the novella The Legend of Thyl Ulenspiegel and Lamme Goedzak, by Charles de Coster published in 1867.

Performance history

The opera was first performed on 4 November 1913 at the Staatstheater Stuttgart.

Trivia

The opera has not been staged since 1913. There will be a performance though in Gera, Germany, opening 28. January 2011. Stage design is by Stephan Braunfels, grandson to Walter Braunfels.
