An evaluation of article titled COVID-19 Lab Leak Theory finds a history of bias. The term "circumstantial evidence" is repeated throughout the article. Mentions of conspiracy theories cloud the readers judgement of the possibility of COVID originating from a lab. In the introduction, the term "most scientists" is used to discredit the idea. A hypothesis is also defined as the best explanation. If most scientists discredit the idea, the title of the article should not be referring to this idea as a hypothesis. The final paragraph of background also brings mention to conspiracy theories surrounding HIV, Ebola, and SARS. On the contrary, tying conspiracy theories related to other disease outbreaks does not credit or discredit the plausible idea of COVID lab origins. Overall, this article misleads the reader into believing a lab theory is highly unlikely. Clear bias using open language without citation is displayed throughout the introduction and background.
