  • I have chosen this article to evaluate because it is a division of Environmental Science that I find interest in.

    • Yes
  • Does the Lead include a brief description of the article's major sections?
    • No, the lead introduces the concept only.
  • Does the Lead include information that is not present in the article?
    • No, it briefly discusses things that are in the article without mentioning what subheading they would be under.
  • Is the Lead concise or is it overly detailed?
    • The lead is detailed but not overly. It gives a good overview to the page, if anything they should add in a description of the major sections covered.

    • Yes, it explains the subgroups of sustainable development including how this concept is used in multiple industries and in human culture and politics.
  • Is the content up-to-date?
    • Yes, it was last updated on March 2, 2020.
  • Is there content that is missing or content that does not belong?
    • No, they go into great detail about sustainable development and how it can be incorporated into our culture and economy.

  • Is the article neutral?
    • Yes
  • Are there any claims that appear heavily biased toward a particular position?
    • That sustainable development is still possible.
  • Are there viewpoints that are over-represented, or underrepresented?
    • I don't think they touched enough on what sustainability is at its core and the multiple arguments about whether or not it is possible or ethical.
  • Does the article attempt to persuade the reader in favor of one position or away from another?
    • No

    • Yes, all come from scientific journals.

    • Yes

    • Most articles are from the last 20 years but there are a few that date back to the 70's.
  • Check a few links. Do they work?
    • Yes

    • Yes. It is good for people at all levels to read.
  • Does the article have any grammatical or spelling errors?
    • No
  • Is the article well-organized - i.e. broken down into sections that reflect the major points of the topic?
    • Yes

  • Does the article include images that enhance understanding of the topic?
    • yes
  • Are images well-captioned?
    • Some have captions and others don't
  • Do all images adhere to Wikipedia's copyright regulations?
    • yes
  • Are the images laid out in a visually appealing way?
    • The few images are laid out to the right of the section discussing what is portrayed in the photo.

  • What kinds of conversations, if any, are going on behind the scenes about how to represent this topic?
    • On the talk page, one person would like to add a section on green manufacturing and sustainable manufacturing. Someone else thinks that the United Nations deserves prominent mention for the Brundtland Commisson.
  • How is the article rated? Is it a part of any WikiProjects?
    • .level-4 vital article, multiple wikiprojects are interested (international development, urban studies, sociology, architecture, systems and more), and it was the subject of education for India Education Program.
  • How does the way Wikipedia discusses this topic differ from the way we've talked about it in class?
    • This is much broader and less general than anything we would talk about in class.

  • What is the article's overall status?
    • Overall, the article is good for a general inquirer on the subject of sustainable development.
  • What are the article's strengths?
    • It talks about a lot of categories that fall under sustainable development. So, if you are looking for something in particular, there is a section for that and inside of that section are citations to take you to other pages with more information.
  • How can the article be improved?
    • The article could include more information about what is going on in the field, what is being worked on or studied now compared to what needs to be studied in greater depth. It could include problems we are having problems solving and general consensus's throughout the community.
  • How would you assess the article's completeness - i.e. Is the article well-developed? Is it underdeveloped or poorly developed?
    • The article is well-developed but it could be added to. I think for being a general article used to describe a concept, it is in great shape.
