MÁDARA is an organic cosmetics manufacturer, based in Riga, Latvia. Since it's establishment in July 28th 2006, MÁDARA has grown from a small Latvian business to a pan-European natural and organic cosmetic brand that is now available in more than 20 countries, including such cosmetic markets as UK, France and Belgium. On autumn 2009, MÁDARA will be available in Germany.

Products[edit]

MÁDARA offers a complete range of 22 face and body care products made from herbs and flowers harvested in the Baltic region, according to biodynamic farming principles. The ingredients, which include biologically certified blossoms and herbal extracts from the Baltic region, as well as other natural substances, are also being extracted in Latvia.

Baltic climate[edit]

One of the reasons behind it, as stated by the company, is the harsh, cold climate of the Baltic region, that gives such typical local plants like plantain, hop, raspberry, calendula, rose hip and chamomile extra resistance and therefore - extra active ingredients like minerals and vitamins. Research shows that plants growing in the Baltic region contain higher levels of active ingredients than same plant species, growing elsewhere in Europe. For example, Baltic camomile has a very high content of active ingredient Azulene and Bisabolol that have strong anti-inflamatory and healing properties.

Ecological issues[edit]

All MÁDARA products and facilities are certified according to the international ECOCERT standard. MÁDARA packaging is environment friendly and can be recycled. All boxes and print materials are printed on FSC certified paper. On June 2009 MADARA Cosmetics received the award for „Greenest business in Latvia”.
