The Bezhetsk Memorial Literary and Local History Museum is a museum dedicated to the natives of the city of Bezhetsk - the writer and researcher of Siberia Vyacheslav Yakovlevich Shishkov and the creator of the Great Russian Orchestra Vasily Vasilyevich Andreev.
It is a branch of the Tver State United Museum. The museum is located in the building of the former city school, which is a monument of federal significance. From 1882 to 1888, the future writer V.Ya. Shishkov studied here.
In 2011, it was closed for repair and restoration work, after which it resumed work in 2021.
N.L. Sverchkov (the nephew of Nikolai Gumilev) stood at the origins of the museum, the museum implements an integrated approach in scientific and exhibition work based on the memorial part about famous countrymen.
Exposition
[edit]The museum has created exhibitions and expositions about Vasily Andreev, Nikolai Gumilev, Anna Akhmatova, Lev Gumilev. The main interest is the history of the region, so 2-3 exhibitions are created annually reflecting different periods of the 8-century history of the region. There is a permanent ethnographic exhibition. The museum houses such unique exhibition values as a collection of Russian folk instruments (late XIX century), an exclusive collection of paintings by I. Kostenko (a student of Apollinarius Vasnetsov, brother of the more famous Viktor Vasnetsov); a collection of photographs and negatives with views of Bezhetsk of the early XX century.
The Evenk ethnographic collection occupies a special place in the exposition "V.Ya. Shishkov — a talent belonging to the people": festive costume, boots, chum, household items of the Evenks of the XIX century.
Of great interest are the exhibits presented to the museum by the widow of the writer K. M. Shishkova: manuscripts, letters, documents, an exclusive collection of lifetime publications (with autographs), personal belongings of the writer, a furniture set of the 2nd half of the XIX century from the Moscow apartment of the Shishkovs.
The exposition also presents a rich collection of illustrations from the Funds of the Tver State United Museum to the works of V.Y. Shishkov by artists: V.P. Karpov, P.N. Pinkisevich, E.D. Svyatogorov, E.Ya. Higer, as well as sketches of costumes for the film "Ugryum River" (1968) by N.A. Shaporina. In 2014, the First Channel filmed an adaptation of the epic novel by V.Ya. Shishkov "Ugryum River". Producer Denis Evstigneev called the film "The main project of the year and, of course, not only for the channel, but also for the television industry as a whole."
The exposition dedicated to V.V. Andreev tells about the life and work, international tours, concert and social activities of the composer. In the exhibition you can see things that belonged to the musician's mother. A chair from the apartment of V.V. Andreev in St. Petersburg, posters and concert programs. The visitors will be presented with a collection of unique musical instruments by outstanding masters of the late XIX — early XX centuries: F.I. Passerbsky, S.I. Nalimov, I.A. Zyuzin, V.P. Ogloblin, I.I. Galinis.
With the help of modern multimedia technologies, you can hear recordings of musical works from the beginning of the XX century. The museum has a concert hall where you can listen to music and literary works of famous natives of Bezhetsk.
The museum meets the standards for the reception of visitors with disabilities.
There is also an exhibition hall on the ground floor of the museum, which periodically hosts various exhibitions.
